KIT - Knowledge Integration and Transfer
Knowledge Integration And Transfer (KIT)
"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives"
- Kahlil Gibran
Acquiring and updating knowledge improves the quality of life while ignorance makes it miserable. When people are ignorant, they are easily manipulated. Manipulation becomes a practice, encouraging corruption and gradually making it a system of the society. Thus the impact of an individual’s ignorance does not stop with him but spreads to the society as a whole.
For instance, ignorant voters, who have no wisdom to make a choice, are manipulated by the politicians for their selfish motives. The voters are lured to vote than making a conscious choice. As a result, inefficient and corrupt systems are in place affecting the common man’s regular course of life.
VR1 introduces KIT to empower the masses, to serve as a vital source of knowledge at the grass-root level and to renew the technical skills of the students. Through this program called Knowledge Integration and Transfer (KIT), VR1 ‘integrates’ various sources of knowledge and ‘transfers’ them to those in need.
Knowledge Integration
This is a holistic approach that involves synthesizes multiple knowledge models or representations into a common model or representation. Knowledge Integration is to understand a given subject from different perspectives and distill the essence. The process also integrates the existing knowledge with any updates. To resolve knowledge conflicts and to fill knowledge gaps stands as a goal of KIT.
Methodology
We pool up internationally acclaimed resources and focus on imparting the fundamental principles, basing on them. This facilitates transfer of knowledge in a very short span.
The methodology of transfer is through practical sessions in labs, workshops, seminars and other relevant activities. VR1 actively investigates a variety of learning opportunities.
Focus Areas
The major areas we wish to focus initially are:
Attitude
Attitudes are judgments. They develop on the ABC model (affect, behavior and cognition). An individual responds and reacts to various situations of life by right usage of knowledge. The ultimate aim of knowledge integration is to make ourselves better moral beings.
“The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes of mind”
- William James
VR1 aims to produce self-esteemed people by altering the minds and attitudes of children and the youth towards life.
Science And Technology Studies (STS)
Our STS scholars are interested in a variety of issues like the impact of scientific and technological innovations on the society, risks involved etc. VR1 updates the children and youth with latest advancements in Science & Technology and facilitates them to get the accurate information and integrated knowledge.
KIT provides technical knowledge to engineers in various areas like IT, Robotics, Nanotechnology etc.
Our pilot project on robotics organized in March, 2009 was widely acclaimed as a platform of knowledge sharing. While the project boosted the creative levels of the school students, it also brought out the team working abilities and the communication skills of the college students whom we trained to organize the event.
For the benefit of medicos, KIT also collates information from various resources and provides in a nut shell and trains them on par with international standards.
Management
Management comprises planning, organizing, leading and directing oneself to accomplish a given task. It includes building a team and working for a common cause.
VR1 enables an individual to accomplish the set-goals. It inspires every individual to manage one self and the activities of life through the ‘Integration’ and ‘Transfer’ of acquired knowledge.
Our pilot project, National Memory Championship Event was a huge success. 150 students from different colleges across AP (BITS, IIT, NIT, GITAM, JNTU) formed the organizing committee of this magnanimous event. They organized the event from inauguration to valedictory taking care of everything including crowd management, registration of participants, test administration, evaluation of 1500 papers in 6hrs by a team of 40 volunteers, certificate distribution and data entry. Just 3 hours of training in the essence of managerial techniques enabled them to be professional organizers.
Rural Development
Villages in India have very poor socio-economic conditions. Since the dawn of independence, concerted efforts have been made to uplift the living standard of rural masses. To supplement these efforts, we at VR1 have developed a system so that the knowledge penetrates to grass-root level, where it is most needed. We plan to bring within the reach of the illiterate farmer, the knowledge confined to the agricultural universities.
Communication And Language Skills
These skills are the essentials in sharing of knowledge, and a critical area covered by KIT. VR1 gives recommendations of activities to develop these skills through simple and interesting techniques.
Why KIT?
- To develop the right attitude
- To instill the discrimination power
- To avoid the confusion of selecting the right reference
- To save precious time and money
- To give clarity in concepts and subsequently build up confidence in the individual
- To understand advanced subjects in a simpler way
- To fight the social evils prevailing in the society with enlightened knowledge.
Updates:
Several Workshops have been conducted from Dec 2009 - Jan 2009 as a part of KIT. For details of the workshops, please see Main Menu>Programs>Workshops. Photos of the workshops can also be viewed on Main Menu>Features>Gallery
Knowledge with integrity is the way to happy life and to live happily or not is our choice.
